Illustration Friday

So … this post is about my illustrations for Illustration Friday. Instead of writing a post per week about them, I will simply update this post. So I hope I will have lots of images to share with you during this year.

I really enjoy working with shadows for my Illustration Friday. I got some ideas from a Shadow theatre book I got from the library.  I guess I’ll stick to the retro / victorian style because it is lots of fun, but actually it can be challenging some times, once you never know what next week has in store for you.

The other thing about the illustrations is that most of the time I have a quote in mind when I work on them. Though I don’t put it on the drawing (I wanna keep it as clean as possible), I thought it would be a good idea to write the quotes down here. If any of the drawings bring you another quote in mind, I would love to hear it.

I hope you like them and feel free to write comments.

IF - Liquid“What shall we do with the drunken sailor,  early in the morning?”

IF - Train
“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off.
You sit still and trust the engineer.
~Corrie Ten Boom

IF - FAREWELL“Every traveler has a home of his own, and he learns to appreciate it the more from his wandering.”
~ Charles Dickens

IF - Tribute

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.”
~William Shakespeare

IF - Future“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”
~Jeremiah 29:11

      Thank you.

Well, Shirley. I have always been interested in children’s book illustration. I have done it only once, though (I might post it some time). I know I need more practise and skills, but isn’t Illustration Friday a good way to start!
